About Us
Practical map tools should be useful before they ask you to read instructions. Learn who maintains this site, what the tools are for, and how we keep our mapping advice accountable.
Why this site exists
A map should help someone answer a question: How far does a service zone extend? Is a property close to a school? How large is an irregular field? Where does a driving-time boundary differ from a simple circle? This site brings common geospatial planning tasks into approachable browser tools, backed by documentation that explains what each result means.
Our publishing principle is straightforward: do the useful task first, then explain the calculation. On a tool page, the interactive workspace belongs before the long-form guide. Supporting examples and FAQs are designed to improve decisions, not to force an extra screen of scrolling.
The people behind the content
The site is edited by Qudoos, Founder & Editor. Qudoos is responsible for the mapping guides and editorial standards published on this website. Read the author profile for editorial responsibilities and the social accounts verified by the owner. We do not present unverified degrees, licenses, membership badges or years of experience.
Our editorial policy explains how guides are researched and corrected. Our methodology explains how to interpret map calculations and why some outputs are estimates.
What we build
- Distance and radius: radius map, kilometre radius, distance calculator.
- Travel and coverage: drive-time mapping, walking accessibility, ZIP-code reach.
- Area and location: polygon area, acre visualization, halfway-point planning.
- Research: population within a radius and city rings (subject to source-year, geometry and coverage limitations).
Three important distinctions
- Circle distance is not journey length. A 5-mile circle covers points within about five straight-line miles, not places you can necessarily reach in a five-mile drive.
- Time maps are predictions. A road-based isochrone depends on its routing engine, road network, assumed travel mode and sometimes departure-time or traffic information. Do not treat it as a guarantee.
- Map data has provenance. Address matching, ZIP points, population counts and borders may use different providers and reference years. We disclose which method is appropriate before interpreting a result.
Who uses these pages
Homeowners compare nearby services; agents explain catchment areas; operations teams review possible delivery coverage; researchers use circles as a first screening step; students visualize radius and area; and travelers plan nearby options. None of these uses makes an online map a certified survey or legal boundary document.
Open sources and transparent limitations
Depending on which tool is installed and configured, geospatial web applications may use mapping frameworks such as Leaflet and crowd-sourced basemaps such as OpenStreetMap. Provider availability and coverage vary; a site footer listing a provider is not proof that every calculation uses it. The methodology page distinguishes algorithms from source datasets and describes verification checks.
We do not claim every tool is free of errors, available in every region, supported by live traffic, or suitable for statutory compliance. Verify critical results with an authoritative local source.
Feedback changes the product
If a calculation looks wrong, an address is mislocated or a reference is outdated, report the specific page, inputs and expected behavior through Contact Us. Corrections are documented according to the editorial policy. Our goal is not to win an argument with a map; it is to make the map more useful.
Frequently asked questions
Who writes the guides?
Qudoos is the configured site editor. The author profile identifies the responsibilities and verified public profiles without inventing credentials.
Are radius maps precise measurements of road distance?
No. A radius measures straight-line or geodesic distance; a road route is a different calculation.
Can I use screenshots for professional decisions?
Screenshots can help communicate a result, but survey, legal and regulatory decisions require appropriate independent verification.
Where can I report a correction?
Use the Contact page and include the affected URL, inputs and a clear description of the discrepancy.
